Gold Trail Racing is a student-led motorsports team based at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) focused on developing drivers, engineers, and future industry leaders through real-world racing experience.
We are building a structured program that combines driver development, engineering, and team operations with hands-on learning inside and outside the classroom. What started as a small group of passionate enthusiasts has grown into a structured team working toward competing in the Collegiate Racing Series (CRS) with a dedicated CRS-Spec ND MX-5 Cup Car.
From driver training and vehicle setup to media, sponsorship, and team operations and logistics, every department of our team plays a role in building a competitive and sustainable team.
Gold Trail Racing is more than just a racing team, we aim to provide a gateway to a career in the highly competitive motorsports world.
Our 2026 Competitor
Gold Trail Racing plans to run a CRS-Spec ND1 MX-5 Cup Car that is built to the Collegiate Racing Series' 2026 competition and safety regulations. The racecar will have full racecar safety upgrades, including a full halo bucket seat, full roll cage and fire suppression system. It will also have performance upgrades like Penske Racing suspension that is used in the IMSA MX-5 cup car, our choice of brake pads and rotors, and our choice of street-legal 200 treadwear tires to keep running costs low.
